La storia inizia con gli Etruschi che abitarono la zona fino al 300 a.C. circa. I Romani impiegarono due anni per conquistare Orvieto che \u00e8 una fortezza naturale con le sue scogliere su tutti i lati. Ci sono molti reperti etruschi e romani ancora oggi in giro. Una delle preferite del Papa, Orvieto \u00e8 stata benedetta con una cattedrale, un pozzo e altre strutture donate dai papi. Nel cuore dell'Italia, la posizione centrale rende Orvieto un'ottima base per gite di un giorno. Roma e Firenze sono ciascuna a un'ora e mezza di distanza. Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, Bolsena e Civita di Bagnoregio sono tutte a breve distanza.
